I've had just enough time to... go fly a kite! :)
Taken in Bali of the plight of a downed kite.
..
......
I am a kite
Born to fly, to
Soar above the land
An inhabitant of the sky
But the wind I depended on was fickle
And I learned that though I was born to fly
I was not a free inhabitant of the boundless sky
And the Earth that gave me birth
waited impatiently...
waited impatiently...
To reclaim
the one
who
fly
who
fly
..
..
..

Let's Go Fly a Kite (from "Mary Poppins")
When you send it flying up there,
all at once your lighter than air!
You can dance on the breeze,
over 'ouses and trees!
With your fist 'olding tight,
to the string your kite!
Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height
Let's go fly a kite
And send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite!
A 1000 Reasons
ReplyDeleteI was in a car in Bali when I noted this kite that got entangled in the luxuriant growth of this tropical tree. I've always have a soft spot for downed kite and I always associated them not only with fallen heroes but also the disappointment of the kids that lose a kite much like a dropped ice cream cone.

Exactly my thought I used to be very sad as a youngster when that happened mainly in the electric lines, living in the city was very tricky to fly them but we did:-)
Great shot! Have a lovely day.

I am so sorry,Thou, that the clear blue skies and the lavish growth of the wonderful tropical tree don't leave enough margins to lament the entangled kite... although, tough for the little kid.
Brilliant image and concept sentimentally approached and sagely versed !!!
Love the symbolic significance of kites and the realistic landing of the conceited fallen heroes ...
Have a joyful Sunday my dear friend

Have never made the connection before between a lost or unretrievable kite & a dropped ice cream cone .... but yes, both heart-sinking moments. Kites .... an item in childhood's collective memory that never loses its magic ...like fireworks & the idea of flying. Wonder why the term 'go fly a kite' expresses dismissal. An evocative image, thou-san.
Re: the nothing-to-stand-up-for sceptic / an excellent first-person nail-on-the-head interpretation. Thank you.
