The Wedding Part II – The Wedding Ceremony

I've had just enough time to...   enjoy a wedding

Let the ceremony begins...

Being happy for others is a nice feeling. It makes you feel good and I was glad I attended the wedding. I felt good because I saw smiles straight from the heart and tears of joy. Maybe this will change my mind about weddings. I will not spoil it with too many words so shall  let the pictures do the talking.

We are gathered here today...

Where the light shines down on the blessed couple...

As the voices were raised to heaven...

In the church where it all happens...

But my eyes are only on you...

While the world revolves around us, ours are frozen in time...

And the smiles spring straight from the heart...

And your protective hand circles round my waist...

And they chose the only wedding song I know how to sing! I think it is one of the most beautiful ever so enjoy it here.

"So you did enjoy the wedding ceremony after all. It wasn't so bad, was it? Maybe now you will go more often." I thought to myself. Maybe. If they allow me to shoot some photos that I like :). It was a genuine, unpretentious, warm and cosy wedding. More so than most I've attended. I've been to some where it was all just a show. Hollow and pretentious and I disappear real quick not willing to part of the circus act. But this one is - nice! And I did shoot some photos that brings me and others a smile. What more can one ask from a wedding? And they like my bread. That is a bonus. I'm sure all of you, my friends will like them too ha ha. And it is not our tradition to give bread. :)

Captured perfectly and I like that you showcased this in black and white. Simple, elegant and unobtrusive. You did this proper justice. I like it that you speak real words and that the truth comes from your belief and your heart. Just like the fact that this wedding was not a circus act, either is your work. You have a special gift of vision my friend.

I love this shot Thou. You have captured a beautiful and romantic intimacy here wonderfully. The black and white really works well too and I love how little parts of the wedding dress are lightly touched by the sun. It's almost as though the sun is giving them its blessings too. I am glad you felt it was the real thing here. Your comparison of certain other weddings as circus 'acts' makes me think of a quote by Erving Goffman
"All the world is not, of course, a stage, but the crucial ways in which it isn't are not easy to specify."
Still, I can imagine there are levels and types of acting that could range from tolerable (social convention) to completely intoreable dramatics lol .
In case you are interested, here is a summary of his thinking - which I found interesting.

You may or may not find it interesting or agree with it. If not please feel free to tear it up and throw it away he he he. : ))

Thanks for having a glance at this. No pressure to read any more about this at all - just thought this might interest your inquisitve, philosopical and reflective nature about human nature and all that is around. Unless I am mistaken, I also remember you mentioning you do some lecturing - though I am not sure exactly what on - so I thought you might want a glance at this little bit of writing on Gofman's ideas. Wishing you a happy week once again my friend . : ))

Your pictures do indeed do the talking, thou. The one featured here is tender & beautiful ...capturing the intimacy & reverence of the occasion with creative originality.....we don't need to see their faces to know they are happy & in love. I remember when my niece got married (before I had picked up a camera so this is not sour grapes *~*) They hired a so-called 'professional' wedding photographer at a cost of many hundreds of dollars. I looked through all the proofs. There was not a single original idea among them ... every last one a traditional seen-a-million-times wedding composition. What a shame! What a waste! Excellent additional shots seen on your blog too, thou. I especially like the low perspective on the pool of light in which they stand. May they walk in such light all the days of their lives.

What a cordial and tender wedding photo in b/w,my dear good friend Thou !!! It's softly touched with romance and promising gestures that set the base for the eddifice which they will have to rebuild every single day.You perfectly captured the spirit of it and its sacred nature,Thou. The photo series on your blog is delightfully arranged and you have added a superior attitude to the institution of marriage.May God grant them a happy married life in the days to come and the bread you offered them will bring the expected fertility ...
