Why Stand On One Foot When You Can Stand On Two?

I've had just enough time to...   stand on one foot

Taken of the Kung Fu duck standing on one leg on the rock in the garden of a restaurant in Hanoi

Why stand on one foot when you have two?
Close your eyes and learn from the blind
Stand on one like the flamingos do
And if you do not know why
Know at least how it feels like
Five seconds and counting
You cannot keep still
And if you only have ten seconds
To learn all you can standing on one foot
This is it –

“Do not do unto others what is hateful to you”

And if you need to learn economics standing on one foot, this is it :D -

This was taken in a small garden outside a Vietnamese restaurant in Hanoi. There were other ducks swimming and frolicking in the pool. But this lone duck stood stoically one one leg on top of a rock disregarding all the activities around it. There was an air of Zen around it, it was as if it was reflecting on some of Life's profound questions. It stood motionless yet I can feel its sharp gaze on me and watching me with interest. What does it see and what were its thoughts as I took its picture? Maybe we were kindred spirits and it the wiser of us two.

You should stand on one leg and close your eyes and see if you can stand still for more than a few seconds :)
Ever wonder why flamingos stand on one leg? Is there a reason and do you know?
In a famous Jewish story, an enlightened rabbi replied to a non-Jew who try to scorn the religion by asking whether the rabbi can teach him the whole Law while he stands on one leg to which came the famous reply "do not do unto others what is hateful to you", all else are just details.

Fabulous capture Thou. I love watching ducks doing this - but your photo is even more special because of the lovely flowing water in the background, the clarity of the shot and your wonderful and thought provoking reflections. This pose always make me think of Yoga and meditation. Which I used to do a long time ago and and I really should start doing again. To me this is a wonderful Zen moment and and a demonstration of inner strength, equilibrium and harmony. Having said that your second paragraph of thoughts about religion certainly puts a different light on the matter. Perhaps if he asked the same request from this Zen duck the duck wouldn't even be bothered by this silly and scornful suggestion. It would be like the well known idiom "water off a duck's back" : D lol : ))
