Sweet Fruits, Rough Skins. Which Do I Pick?

I've had just enough time...  to try to pick the sweet fruit from the rough skins

Taken in the town of Bidor on the way home...

I stood there staring
At the fruits
Within easy reach
Which do I pick?
How do you judge
Which is sweet?
When all the sweetness
Is covered
By rough skins?
Appearance is deceiving.

Shall I ask the fruit seller?
I may receive an honest answer
Or I may not...

    1000 Reasons
Quite often on the way back from Ipoh where I go for good food, I will stop over in the town of Bidor to buy fruits. The construction of the highway has seriously impacted the commerce of this once bustling town where it was a compulsory stop for people traveling between KL and Ipoh. Today, it is more of a detour for travelers like me who wanted to buy fruits and vegetables of the surrounding orchards and farms or of the Cameron highlands. But how do you choose a fruit with appearance as misleading as the jack fruit? You can ask the fruit seller but if he only recommends his good fruits, what is he doing to do with the rest?
When you cannot trust your senses? When your intuition may not work? What do you do? The dilemma of Life in choosing a good fruit.

I assume all of them are from the same tree , so I will choose base on the size that I can consume:)

Excellent photo ....and thought-provoking text as always !
For some reason, this reminds me of an old, card-players poker saying :
" To be successful at playing poker, you have to be able to sit down at the table , and look at your competitors , and be able to know which one is the 'sucker' (loser) .
Because ....if you can not spot the sucker ...then ...You are the sucker !!
Have a nice day my friend :-)

Wonderful capture of jack fruits. A delicious fruit though it is messy to cut it open and get into the edible parts...
