"The sharp knife of a short life

I've had just enough time..."

- "If I Die Young" The Band Perry

I see Beauty in many things. And like the ghosts that only speak to you if you notice them, they tell me wondrous tales. With my camera and my thoughts, I captured these as faithfully as I can to share with you. And by doing so, they gave me the reasons. And though the thousand reasons may not all be sweet and some indeed bitter; they are still reasons to live. Come to think about it, that is Life, isn't it?

Why Stand On One Foot When You Can Stand On Two?

I've had just enough time to...   stand on one foot

Taken of the Kung Fu duck standing on one leg on the rock in the garden of a restaurant in Hanoi

Why stand on one foot when you have two?
Close your eyes and learn from the blind
Stand on one like the flamingos do
And if you do not know why
Know at least how it feels like
Five seconds and counting
You cannot keep still
And if you only have ten seconds
To learn all you can standing on one foot
This is it –

“Do not do unto others what is hateful to you”

And if you need to learn economics standing on one foot, this is it :D -

Bathing Ritual in The Temple of Sacred Water (Thirtha Empul)

I've had just enough time to...   be cleansed by holy water

Taken of the bathing pool in the Temple of Sacred Water

Water, the elixir of Life
Cleanse me
Purify me
Refresh me
I am born again
Without my sins
Without my worries
Without my pains
I am renewed
By sacred water,
The elixir of Life

Devotees in prayer during purifying ceremony

This temple is regarded as one of the six most important temples in Bali. It got its name “Thirtha Empul” meaning “Bubbling Spring” from a legend. When the evil King Mayadenawa poisoned Lord Indra’s troop by creating a pool of poisoned water, Lord Indra saved them by stabbing his flag pole into the ground creating a bubbling spring of sacred water which has curative power. A temple was built at this site in 926 AD. For more than a thousand years, Balinese have come to this sacred site to heal and purify themselves.

Reflection Part III – Where Have All The Good Times Gone?

I've had just enough time to...   try to see his reflections on the water.

Taken in the same Taiping Park in Taiping, Malaysia

What does he see
When he looks into the water?
Does he see the years that went by?
Does he see regrets floating on the surface?
Does he see opportunities lost?
Does he see paths that should have been taken?
Goals that should have been achieved?

Or does he see
The reflections of his grandchildren
And is contended with that

_______

Won't you tell me
Where have all the good times gone
Where have all the good times gone
Where have all the good times gone

Once we had an easy ride
and always felt the same
Time was on our side
and I had everything to gain
Let it be like yesterday
Please let me have happy days

Reflection Part II – Memories of the Way We Were

I've had just enough time to...   reflect on the way we were

Taken while strolling round Taiping Park in Taiping, Malaysia.

The reflections on the water
Sweep the memories pass
Its calm surface
To a misty land
Of ghostly images
That pulls at the heartstrings
Vibrating
And exciting
Emotions
Long thought dead

_______

Memories,
Like the corners of my mind
Misty water-coloured memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures,
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were

Barbra Streisand - Way We Were

Pisces Cannot Swim

I've has just enough time to...   swim outside the boundary

Taken in the Maeklong Railway Market Bangkok of fishes uniquely presented for sales

Pisces caught in a vice
Unable to escape.
Out of its element.
Boxed in.
Where is the dream?

Out of ocean
Out of water
Out of space to swim
Out of a land to be free

Is this world an illusion?
Or is it a dream?
Is reality written in the stars?
Or is it sold two for twenty?

Rule by emotion
Kill by cold steel
Misjudge the tide
The water retreat
Pisces are left
Floundering on the beach

_____________

Some times my life it seems like fiction

Some of the days it's really quite serene
I'm a living proof of all life's contradictions
One half's going where the other half's just been

And I'm a Pisces fish and the river runs through my soul

A Little Pebble To Create A Tsunami

I've has just enough time to...   throw a little pebble to create a tsunami

Taken while cruising Tanah Merah lake in Taiping, Malaysia.

I told them if -
I throw a little pebble into the sea
It could create a tsunami
But they would not believe me

They say -
Crabs walking sideways cannot learn to walk straight
The dodo birds cannot sprout wings and take to the sky
The lemmings who stop the march will get run over
Why rock the boat when it is still over the water?
Which ostrich can stop running from its own shadow?
Who will be the fool to shout “broken arrow”?
The silent men may get passage to the ivory tower
The rest will be used as cannon fodder
Courage cannot put a meal on the table
Suicide can be done without a knife
Go shoot yourself in the head
When you’re done shooting the toes
You will not live past midnight
Because you will not listen

The hollow men speak without moving their lips
Together all at once disharmoniously

I threw my little pebble out into the sea
Waiting for the waves
To blow them over!

How Can A Heart Hold So Much Sorrow?

I've had just enough time to...   hold some sorrow.

Taken in Taiping, Malaysia under the Rain Tree.

The still water
Beneath the Rain Tree
Gathered the tears
Of a thousand drops
Of hanging leaves
Distressed by August tales
Of wandering clouds
From a distant land
Where morning songs
Were drowned
By thundering hooves
Stirring up a dust storm
Swept through the land
Into every home
Choking and stifling
And when the rain came
It was no salvation
Except burying everything
In mud
Hidden
Except for the tales
Carried by the wind to
The drifting clouds
Caught by the Rain Tree
Coalesced
Into the pool beneath it

How can a heart hold so much sorrow?

As Fine As A Frog In Boiled Water.

I've had just enough time to...   get out of the water.

Taken in Marjeyoun, Lebanon where I saw a frog jumped into the wrong water.

Everything is normal, everything is changing;
Nothing is normal, yet nothing is changed.
Get out of the water, get out of it quick!
But the water is fine, and I’m fine in it.
As fine as the frog in boiled water,
As fine as I am in it.

A Boat That Never Leave The Shore.

I've had just enough time...    to ponder about safe harborage.

Taken in Kota Kinabalu

"For love was offered me…and I shrank from its
disillusionment:
Sorrow knocked at my door, but I was afraid:
Ambition called to me, but I dreaded the chances.
Yet all the while I hungered for meaning in my life.

To put meaning in one’s life may end in madness.
But life without meaning is the torture
Of restless and vague desire—
It is a boat longing for the sea and yet afraid. "
- "George Grey" Edgar Lee Master.
___

A boat that never leave the shore,
Still ends in the bottom.
Yet never sail the wide water,
For which it was intended.
