I've had just enough time to... notice the crack and the flowers
Taken in Malacca of the flowers and the crack and I wonder...
Did you
notice –
The
colors of the petals
Or the
crack in the wall?
Did you
not notice the flowers
Because
of the crack in the wall?
Did you
only notice the flowers
And not
the crack in the wall?

the flowers, the crack only after reading about it :P
A 1000 Reasons (busy... slow)
I probably took more pictures of flowers (which I love) than any other subjects. But I don't post that many because there is only so much I can write about them :D Ironically, there is not as much you can write about beauty and happiness versus sadness and tragedy. Sorry but that is the way it is if we are honest :) How many happy love songs have you heard versus sad ones? A 100 to 1? See :D. But I did find an excuse this time to write about flowers because of an ugly crack on the wall. Ha ha. So you get the best of both worlds? But what drew you in? I wonder?

I think I noticed both at the same time . I also noticed how the imperfection of the crack made the 'perfection' of the flowers more evident and appreciated by the eye . A fine image and excellent, thought-provoking question . Thanks for sharing, my friend ....have a nice evening :-)

so pretty!
A 1000 Reasons (busy... slow)
There are more questions coming up. Since I asked so many, I better also ask myself - why did I take that picture? Is it because of the flowers or the crack in the wall? And I've to admit, it is because of the....
All these and the following pictures were taken in one place and it is inside a building in the historic city of Malacca, a heritage city where it was ruled approximately by the Portugese, Dutch and British for approximately a hundred years each! And the Japanese for a few short years during WWII. If you're going there, drop me a personal note and I'll tell you where to find the flowers. I'm sure it is still there :D

beautiful.....!

this is the one where i notice the crack has the focus of the camera...but i cannot tell which one i went to first...
i tend to look at the whole before the parts...when viewing... it is the way one "sees" when they want to draw something in proportion... the whole before the parts... so i come to the question with a preset manner of viewing...
the composition is nice...the balance and placement of negetive and positive spaces...

The colours -- the flowers -- the beauty -- of things always draws me in.

A 1000 Reasons (busy... slow) read the rest of your story :) it is very true! Very hard to write about flowers if you are not talking about gardening and species :)
Flowers are beautiful, I enjoy them, but hardly take flowers I just realize this because of you writing this. Weird, Out of tens of thousands of pictures that I got, I might have just 25 of flowers, if that many.............

Thanks Steve,
It goes something like this :)
"Wow, that is a big elephant!"
"See, I'm feeding it!"
"Let me take picture with my iPhone"
"AH! The elephant swallowed my phone!"
"Help! The elephant swallowed my phone, please get it back!"
The caretaker: "Sorry, it is gone!"
Late, much later.
"Is my phone in there!"
"You ring my phone and see"
"Yes! It rang, my phone is there!"
The caretaker digging from the elephant shit.
"Take it back"
"No!" to her friend "Please take it for me"
"No", "Please", "No"
The caretaker "Your phone, take it!"
Thanks Steve, I've a good laugh.

Yes this time the crack was hard to ignore or over look. It also looks to me as though this pretty and delicate flower grew just here to sooth and heal the suffering of the crack : ))

What a thoughtful question with a thoughtful shot! Honestly speaking, I noticed the flower first, then the crack. Brilliant!
