"The sharp knife of a short life

I've had just enough time..."

- "If I Die Young" The Band Perry

I see Beauty in many things. And like the ghosts that only speak to you if you notice them, they tell me wondrous tales. With my camera and my thoughts, I captured these as faithfully as I can to share with you. And by doing so, they gave me the reasons. And though the thousand reasons may not all be sweet and some indeed bitter; they are still reasons to live. Come to think about it, that is Life, isn't it?

I'm In-Between...

I've had just enough time to...   get out from in-between...

Shot on the last day in Singapore...

The last few days I was in Singapore with my team to do development work on a new project with some really nice people. Every morning when I went down from the 24th floor and coming out of the lift when I returned at night; I will look out the window sandwiched between the two rows of lifts. Always looking for something worthy to shoot and each time wondering whether I have a story for the little child’s bicycle with the pink frame outside the balcony. But I did not shoot that. On the last morning as I was about to rush down to check out, I again looked out the window. It was a dark and rainy morning, kind of gloomy. It was then, for the first time I noticed the world in-between the two apartment blocks…

...on a rainy and gloomy morning,

In-betweens

I’m in-between.
In-between jobs
The last one’s no good
The new one’s not promising
But I’m in-between
So I guess that’s okay

I’m in-between relationships
The old one’s heart-breaking
The current one’s temporary
So I guess
That makes it tolerable

I’m in-between Lives
Up to now, it is kinda disappointing
So I need some re-inventing
For my Life is in-between

In-between
All those in-betweens…

I saw for the first time, the world in-between.. in-betweens

Pretty Geese On The Way To Market

I've had just enough time to...   see pretty geese on the way to market

Taken on the way to work one fine morning

One fine morning on the way to work
I saw three geese riding on a truck
That is nothing strange
Till they started talking
And I could understand what was said

“Yahoo! It is fun riding on a truck”
The others agreed in splutter and gurgle
“The kind farmer is giving us a ride
To the market in this fine pick-up truck”

“What is a market?” One asked
“It is what we live for, what we eat for”
The farmer told us “You’re such pretty creatures.
Raised to be admired.”

“Look at the poor guy at the wheel”
And they babble and blabber and blather
“He has to work to live because he is ugly!”
And they chatter and prattle and tattle

Then the light changed
And the truck moved and the geese
Were on their way and they called out
“Bye bye ugly, go to work!”
And their laughter echo all the way to the market…

Running On Empty.

I've had just enough time to...   crawl on all fours.

Taken of the little green beetle that visit me in my office during office hours

Caught in the grind of every day
The day drove by me
Without picking me up
As it raced along the bend
And left me stranded behind
As I struggled after
Another day raced by
And another and another and another…

The hours complained
“Why are you so slow
We cannot wait for you”
As the tick tock faded
Another hour asked
“Why are you still here?”
Then it too is gone

And I struggled along
On slippery slope
Down on all fours

Live Like Horses.

I've had just enough time to...   live like horses, sometime.

The first thing I saw outside my window one early morning in Anyang, China is this lovely bronze horse.

Outside my window
Night has taken over
It is time to leave.
The uncompleted words
Are piled in a heap
For another tomorrow.
I locked the door
To an empty office
The last to leave.
The street light
Threw my long shadow
To the car waiting for my exit.

I sigh and I wonder
When can I live like horses -
Free.

 _______

Someday we'll live like horses
Free rein from your old iron fences
There's more ways than one to regain your senses
Break out the stalls and we'll live like horses

The Rest (from Both Sides Now) – Part I

I've have had just enough time to...   see a body at rest and not wonder why.

Taken in one of the small street in Jakarta.

It has been a long day. Sixteen hours and my whole body is aching. I have not had a bath and have not seen my family but the extra money will come in handy. Boy will start his schooling soon. And Indah should see a doctor for her cough.

No point going home now. Will just rest here for while and start another shift. Just a short rest. Man, I am weary…

(Watch out for the conclusion Part II)
