"The sharp knife of a short life

I've had just enough time..."

- "If I Die Young" The Band Perry

I see Beauty in many things. And like the ghosts that only speak to you if you notice them, they tell me wondrous tales. With my camera and my thoughts, I captured these as faithfully as I can to share with you. And by doing so, they gave me the reasons. And though the thousand reasons may not all be sweet and some indeed bitter; they are still reasons to live. Come to think about it, that is Life, isn't it?

Keeping My Nose Above Water

I've had just enough time to...   keep my nose above water

Taken of the turtle keeping its nose above water in Gunung Lang, Perak, Malaysia

Keeping my nose above water
That is what I do
As my whole body goes under
I fight to stay afloat
With my nose just on top

Pulled down by my weight
The world upon my shoulders
Pushing me under
I struggled to the surface
Push my nose up above
Desperate to survive
Another moment
For...

Maybe a helping hand
A chance upon a random log
Or to make it to dry land on my own
But that seems so far away…
I paddle there

Bobbing up and down
Grasping air with every breath
I just keep going
Keep reminding -
Courage is in the struggle
That spirit is all
Keeping me
From going under…

  1. A 1000 Reasons
Sometimes you just have to admit "Life is tough!". And this year has been tougher for me than most. Quite a few times, I come close to the brink and at one time even thought of giving it all up. It is not worth it, I told myself. There is more important things in life than career and money. You will surprised what you will find when you are prepared to throw it all away. As I discovered. If you are not locked in, you attained a certain kind of freedom and more options are open to you. Finally, I did not quit. I managed to keep my nose above water. Things are not very much easier. But it is easier enough for me that I do not have to keep pushing my nose above water. And so there I go - another year. This blog that I've been writing though it takes up time that I need also is a safety valve for me to let off steam so I do not explode. So no matter how busy, I keep finding the time to take the photos and write my thoughts and it helps me to go through another day. To keep my nose above water so to say. Don't worry. Things are much better now and I can cope. Thank you all for sharing this journey of reflection with me. :D

Dear thou, yes, life is hard sometimes, it can seem that one's options have come down to sink or swim. Glad that you found the courage to keep swimming ...just like this ancient fellow who's probably been doing just that for a very long time. And so must we ...there are a thousand reasons to keep doing so. 'Think on these things' (Krishnamurti)
No, not fishing, thou. One young man stands by the rock's contemplating life, perhaps. The others are heading either to the entranceway you can see a little further on, leading into the medina, or continuing along the seafront promenade which follows the circumference of the medina walls.
