"The sharp knife of a short life

I've had just enough time..."

- "If I Die Young" The Band Perry

I see Beauty in many things. And like the ghosts that only speak to you if you notice them, they tell me wondrous tales. With my camera and my thoughts, I captured these as faithfully as I can to share with you. And by doing so, they gave me the reasons. And though the thousand reasons may not all be sweet and some indeed bitter; they are still reasons to live. Come to think about it, that is Life, isn't it?

What The Plovers Stole From Me

I've had just enough time...   to be thankful to the plovers who stole from me

Taken of the pair of plovers that stole away my worries in a private beach in Hua Hin, Thailand

Walking alone on the wind swept beach
Pounded by roaring waves
It was no lullaby
Peace was not in my heart
Or in my mind

They will make very quick darts across the sand that looks quick comical

While I was not looking
The plovers darted in
Snatched away my worries
In a big hurry

Then stopped dead still. They may face away from each other.

 My head felt strangely light
I left the beach with a smile
For  the plovers
That stole from my mind

Or facing the same direction

If you didn't follow them with your eyes, it takes you quite a while to look for them when they are not moving.

There, they go on their mad dash again :)

Then stopped to be part of the scenery.

See how easy it is to miss them had I not zoomed in with my shots.

They are very interesting to watch. There are two plovers in all these pictures. Did you notice them all?

I was walking alone on a private beach in Hua HIn, Thailand. I had the whole beach to myself except for some fishermen returning from the choppy sea to the fishing village next to the resort. It was a cloudy evening and the roaring waves were angry about something and it was not a soothing lullaby. Kind of gloomy even by the sea and I was about to walk back to the room when I noticed some blurry but very rapid movement on the beach. Took me a while to notice them for they had stood rock still. Then, suddenly they will be off again darting through the sand. It was very interesting to follow them and they were delightful subjects to shoot. They made me stayed on the beach much longer than I intended and I am grateful. :)

  2. I caught sight of 4 baby sparrow darting around, nipping food from the backyard of our kitchen while doing dish washing yesterday. Not to frighten them from their activities, we open large not our kitchen window and instead move swiftly to the backdoor to have a good full view of them having fun feeding and playing around with each other. Arguing in whisper as to whether they are baby or adult,my mind rest assured of how the Lord feeds even a little sparrow, so what are we to worry? And wonder on God's amazing creation - even a litte sparrow had all the complete organs in its tiny body!
These are God sent moment to provide temporary respite!

When they are not moving they have the perfect camouflage. It is really difficult to make them out in the sands. It is easier in the pictures because I zoomed in with my shots. I do not have much experience with the shorebirds but from now on, I will be looking out for them. Thank God for the Plovers! Even if they stole from me. :D

i can FEEL the relief in your poem....
can hear the plovers...the water... feel the air and temperature... the sand moving under one's feet... ...the scents... the wind.........the sun....the distance to the horizon...
    and the slow.. gradual... softening...
    IT'S ALL THERE...
and i even feel better from reading...
    WELL DONE THOU SAN
and then i followed the lnk to your blog page... and went through it all again... this time not only softened... but came away smilling... after searching and finding the elusive little birds...

A really gorgeous and sweet capture Thou. Love how one of the birds pretty wings are spread and the way they are both looking in your direction - with what looks like a friendly smile like expression. No wonder they were a lovely distraction for you and managed to steal your worries away and keep you at the beach longer. Have a lovely and easy going week my friend. : ))
PS: Thank you very much for your lovely and thoughtful comments as always. Re: your question about the way the bench is facing - this old photo of mine that I have added at the bottom will show you the full context of why the bench was facing the way it was. I hope that makes more sense now lol
