out of place
You do
not belong here
Among
rusty and stainless steel
The sun
burns you
The
night offers no sleep
You are
valued only for your freshness
But your
freshness doesn’t keep
The city
sucks all vitality
The remains
to the rubbish heap
This is
the way the city lives
您孤立此地
此处非你所属
在钢铁与锈之间
烈日噬干您
入夜不得眠
鲜绿是您所有
奈何不持久
城市吸走您的生命力
残骸归废墟
这就是繁市生活之道

I was in the car leaving the wholesale market on the outskirts of Yangon when I spied this bunch of sad looking and withered flowers tied to the side view mirror of one the truck. I managed a few quick shots before we passed it. This seemed to be a common practice here. While I find it commendable that truck drivers could appreciate the beauty of nature in this harsh environment and it provided a small stipend to the ladies selling them. Yet, I could not help but felt pity for the flowers…

A well observed image Thou and very thought provoking writing and reflection on this matter. I think like with a lot of things in this world people want to possess and capitalise from beautiful things regardless of the consequences to the actual object of the beauty. This flower would have had a longer life and the possibility of seeding new flowers had it been left to where it came from. But of course that is of no interest or concern to anyone except to those sensitive souls like yourself who can see through the absurdity and tragedy. I feel the same way about certain types of people who buy pets solely for their own enjoyment and give no consideration to how the pet feels when they eventually become neglectful of them once he/she is no longer a novelty and has too many needs.
