"The sharp knife of a short life

I've had just enough time..."

- "If I Die Young" The Band Perry

I see Beauty in many things. And like the ghosts that only speak to you if you notice them, they tell me wondrous tales. With my camera and my thoughts, I captured these as faithfully as I can to share with you. And by doing so, they gave me the reasons. And though the thousand reasons may not all be sweet and some indeed bitter; they are still reasons to live. Come to think about it, that is Life, isn't it?

Two Views of the Field of Gold

I've had just enough time to...   view the field of gold.

Taken in Sekinchan, Malaysia of the farmer surveying his field of gold

The farmer surveys his field of gold
That stretches to the blue sky above
And he sees a year’s toil

I stood there at the crack of dawn
To see the sun shedding its shine
And I see her hair of gold

The farmer smile
I too smile

At the prospect of a satisfying harvest
That the approaching night
Will soon cover that field of gold…

Two views of the same field evoking two different responses. A smile of satisfaction; reaping the harvest after a long season of hard toils. A smile of remembrance; tinge with sorrow but sparkles like morning dew touched by the sun. I noticed the farmer’s smile. I checked my subconscious one. We surveyed the field for storing into our memory before it is ploughed under again and all are barren awaiting a new birth. Before the Sandman appears and casts his dark cloak over the land, when even the field of gold will take on a shade of grey and sleeps like the night.

Besides the paved road where a solitary motorcyclist passed by; besides the road shoulder lined with the deep reddish brown laterite soil; grows the padi plant weighed down by the heavy ripening grains of rice and morning dew. Besides the road, the padi grows in this fertile land.

These look like they are loaded, good harvest is good for everyone,
remembering my childhood with the wheat harvesting in Greece,
we all went there to sift the hay for grain to feed our Pigeons:-)

They are massive harvesters and the farmer must hire the men to do the job. Nice work

    The Farm
My father's farm is an apple blossomer.
He keeps his hills in dandelion carpet
and weaves a lane of lilacs between the rose
    and the jack-in-the-pulpits.
His sleek cows ripple in the pastures.
    The dog and purple iris
keep watch at the garden's end.
    His farm is rolling thunder,
a lightning bolt on the horizon.
His crops suck rain from the sky
    and swallow the smoldering sun.
His fields are oceans of heat,
    where waves of gold
    beat the burning shore.
    A red fox
    pauses under the birch trees,
a shadow is in the river's bend.
When the hawk circles the land,
my father's grainfields whirl beneath it.
Owls gather together to sing in his woods,
and the deer run his golden meadow.
My father's farm is an icicle,
    a hillside of white powder.
    He parts the snowy sea,
    and smooths away the valleys.
He cultivates his rows of starlight
    and drags the crescent moon
    through dark unfurrowed fields.
