"The sharp knife of a short life

I've had just enough time..."

- "If I Die Young" The Band Perry

I see Beauty in many things. And like the ghosts that only speak to you if you notice them, they tell me wondrous tales. With my camera and my thoughts, I captured these as faithfully as I can to share with you. And by doing so, they gave me the reasons. And though the thousand reasons may not all be sweet and some indeed bitter; they are still reasons to live. Come to think about it, that is Life, isn't it?

A Child Is To Play

I've had just enough time to...   play

A child looking for play...

I remembered as a child
Searching for the meaning of Life
Then went outside to play
When the head gets too heavy
Leaving the thinking
For another day

I was always confident
There is time to be wise
But the play is not going to wait
To start another day

Now only I realized
How wise I was as a child
So I am putting down my books
To go out and play…

while grown-up prays...

I saw this small boy in his bicycle outside the same temple in Surabaya. He was just looking for someone to play with. I contrasted him with the old man I saw sitting forlornly in the balcony upstairs and feel kind of sad. I identified more with this boy and think back to my youth and is envious of him. In the end, I turned out alright but due to poverty and due to the well-meaning but misplaced worries of adults, I lost a large part of my irreplaceable childhood which is why a part of me will never grow up but I’m blessed for that. Life works in mysterious ways.

the Gods stays...

away from the affairs of man...

I saw this small boy outside the temple looking for play and I envied him for the childhood I never have. This was taken in the same temple as the last posting in Surabaya. It made me think of the old man sitting forlornly on the bench in the upstairs balcony and that made me sad. I wondered what his youth is like to make him that way…

An Old Proverb here ----" All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy " is a proverb. It means that without time off from work, a person becomes both bored and boring.
I think this is important -- all our lives !
Beautiful image , Thou - San

Well said from Gill. Here in Italy, I know we're living crises period and work is fundamental, but there is common thinking that we all have to sacrifice to work and due this mentality and poor rules for workers big companies taking advantage of this situation in MMO. We all work 12 hours and more a day plus we are commuting. I see my doughter almost 2 hour a day. What is the point to work to death without having enjoyed life?

I often did the same as books where not for me I had to do both play and work from age 9,
If I had to do it all over again I have to choose books,
    Excellent photo my friend!

It seems this strike a sentiment with my friends. I'm glad that you all shared something close to my heart. The last few years have been really tough and I worked till the point of exhaustion and was prepared to walk away from it all. The last year, I learned to let go which is not easy for something who take a lot of pride in his work. I'm almost ready to play now... Thank you my friends

Wonderful reflections on childhood days when we were free to dream and had time to play.

I too missed out on childhood. My father (Chinese) was a strict disciplinarian and from a very young age my siblings and I were expected to help in the family business when we were not at school. At night we had lessons in reading and writing Chinese. I was a first generation New Zealand born Chinese. Wonderful capture!

Watching kids playing brings joy and peace to my heart because I always remember the other kids who live under wars and deprivations, feeling sad for them, and feeling glad for these kids who are playing that no one took the right of childhood from them, wishing that all the kids in the world have the same right.
I hope that the future will bring them more beautiful days and forever.

we used to have "workable"bicycle during our childhood , basically it's so big, heavy and rusty, we are the second generation and so were the bicycle, used by our parents to work in the rubber estate and past it to our elder brothers and then only it's our turn, we received it with thanks and appreciation because that's the only choice.

recently saw a photo of two young girls who had tied strips of cloth to a chain that was probably meant to keep traffic from entering an alley... they sat of the short cloth slings...just barely off the ground... and seemed as happy as any child on a "regulation swing"... and in Africa... I saw the imaginations of children (and adults) who invented what they needed .. seemingly out of thin air... the results, especially for the children, were amazing.. and to me, it is the thought process itself that was the most exciting.. how to get from A to B.........................love that sunbeam in the photo.... caressing the child like a blessing

Life passes so quickly......we should all take the time to slow down and 'smell the roses'.

I love the words.... a simple mind sometimes it is what we need as an adult :-)
We make life complicated....if only we all can live simply and like a child......

Superb job; I read all these comments and I had to add my two cent. It's all about love.; If we all could love each other; the world be a better place. Let us not too forget, our children are feature. Let them play and be children and in the feature they will grow up to be the men and women that we will be proud off. I must say again it's all about love.
