"The sharp knife of a short life

I've had just enough time..."

- "If I Die Young" The Band Perry

I see Beauty in many things. And like the ghosts that only speak to you if you notice them, they tell me wondrous tales. With my camera and my thoughts, I captured these as faithfully as I can to share with you. And by doing so, they gave me the reasons. And though the thousand reasons may not all be sweet and some indeed bitter; they are still reasons to live. Come to think about it, that is Life, isn't it?

This Old Bucket Has Seen Better Days

I've had just enough time to...   learn from an old bucket

Taken one evening in Kansas City on a stopover...

This old bucket has seen better days
New and shiny, smooth and tough
Strong and sturdy, rugged and stout
Whether water, sand or soil
It carried with unbridled joy
Proud to be tough, to rough it out

But the years had taken its toll
Knocked and dropped, dented and cracked
Soldered and patched, when it got too bad
Discarded like a soiled rag
Another story, sad

of the old bucket taking in the sun...

One day it was picked up and painted over
Its role in Life completely altered
A humble pot to hold beautiful plants
Put in a corner to welcome the sun

This old bucket has seen better days
But the old bucket disagrees
It has never seen days as good as these

  1. it's an old bucket being shown to its other purpose in life. consider itself lucky to be given such a precious chance to live meaningfully.

    1000 Reasons
In my long working life, I had seen many old buckets. I had seen them when they were shiny and new and proud to be used. I had seen the knocks they received over the years. I had seen them dented, repaired and patched. And when they were no longer worth it, I had seen them discarded. I had seen many rusting under the weather. But I had also seen a few like this old bucket transforming itself to bask gloriously in the sun. If I am to be an old bucket, I would wish to be like this one…

Your image and writing remind me that there are many things we could (potentially) learn about ourselves, the people around us, and the situations around us if we pay more attention to the information coming to our senses - sight, sound, touch etc. As you say "if only one listens" - indeed. Listening is quite an art, isn't it? :)
(Thanks for sharing your experience re usage of your photos!)

Interesting sense of both color and texture...the bucket seems slightly warped but that's part of the unique physical experiences that objects absorb and change around.

It may have seen better days......but put together with this flower arrangement and matching colors, and it really does comes to life! You almost don't notice it's dents with something so pretty occupying it! :))
Beautiful light and composition, the shadows also add a lovely element to this picture.
