I was hiking along a hilly trail one day in a park that is a semi-jungle. At near a high point there are a series of concrete path stretching a long way down to where it meets the earthen path again. Along one side of the concrete steps are metal hand-rails. In the distance I saw a shirtless old man perching precariously on the thin round bar and slowly inching its way forward. He is likely to hurt himself if he falls either way and we were concerned for him. But he is oblivious of his surrounding, his full concentration on how to balance himself without falling. I got the impression that he must have done this many times even though this is the first time I met him as the park is quite large.

Linking these thoughts of "the center" to the present set of images... even if the that lady (on the right) wanted, she cannot really assist that man - sure, she could help hold him for a portion of his "journey" on the rail... but ultimately, he has to find his balance and center on his own. Probably the most important decision of one's life.

We can only gape and marveled at him afraid to break his concentration and inadvertently causing his fall.
Trying to find the silver linings, I wondered if the recent chains of events is a test for me. Trying to help me find my true center by placing me on uneven ground.

Thank you for raising this issue for thought/discussion. "What's your center?" is not only an apt question, but I think, the most fundamental question (just my own thoughts/opinion) in all of life. Logically, it is from the center that everything else emanates. So the center is important. And we need to carefully choose our center. It is a fundamental question every individual must ask of himself/herself at some point, if not at repeated points in one's life.

We have something conceal within our center which is also our compass in life - conscience. However, it needs tuning / honing to be sensitive to its voice and submission to it. It is to guide us on top of logic and reasoning which sometimes can be so misused - when we reason ourselves into complete opposite of conscience.
