"The sharp knife of a short life

I've had just enough time..."

- "If I Die Young" The Band Perry

I see Beauty in many things. And like the ghosts that only speak to you if you notice them, they tell me wondrous tales. With my camera and my thoughts, I captured these as faithfully as I can to share with you. And by doing so, they gave me the reasons. And though the thousand reasons may not all be sweet and some indeed bitter; they are still reasons to live. Come to think about it, that is Life, isn't it?

Mount Bromo Part I – Standing at the Edge

I've had just enough time to...   stand at the precipice.

Taken at the edge of the live volcano - Mount Bromo in Java, Indonesia.

If you stand too close to the edge
Above all, don’t lose your balance
But if you are about to fall
Try falling where the support is
The other way is down the deep precipice
And that would be the end, wouldn’t it?

But better yet don’t stand at the edge
That is a dangerous place to be.

Now if you are walking along this edge you do have to be very careful. The ground is sandy and hard and it is so easy to slip over the precipice. Don't even want to think when the rain mixed with the volcanic ash and becomes one slimy mixture. There had been fatal mishap in this active volcano before. Walk carefully when you are walking on edges. Take that warning literally when you are walking along the edge of Mount Bromo. Check out my blog for more scary photos. Look carefully at the left bottom edges of the photo leading upwards. That is the hundreds of steps leading to the top of the volcano and the tiny people climbing up. Still, I highly recommend this to be a good place to visit.

life on the edge i guess has its risks as well as rewards.
i think i'm not as bold or naive as i was in my youth; i would pause here and consider safer means.
    nice work.

Awe-inspiring mountainscape and view with amazing natural textures and geomorphological features. It seems that the Volcanic Giant whose breath is ash and fire is a great creator !!!
Once again, you walked to the edge with intention to "erupt " our imagination, dear friend Thou.
Occasionally, when we climb the steps of the unknown we get overexcited and we barely seek something solid to stand upon...
Thanks for the warning;Otherwise we have to choose either to die or learn how to fly.
Sounds pleasant venture all over the place of the active and dormant volcanos there, provided the Earth's son,Enceladus, is in ceaseless idleness or heavily sleeping ...

  4. My husband and I just came back from climbing Mount Papandayan in Garut, 3 hours from Bandung. I would like to share my experience with your readers. 3 days after the climb, (by that time, i had flown back to KL), I came down with flu like symptoms and an excruciating sore throat. I thought it was a normal flu. Then I remembered my friends who climbed mount Bromo and Mount Ijen earlier and also fell sick after they returned. I did some research and found that the sulphur we have encountered had poisoned us all. I know no guides will tell you this as it will affect their livelihood. Later on, another friend told me his father was hospitalized for 1 week for sulphuric poisoning after spending a few days on Mount Bromo on a photographic assignment. Please think twice before you climb any active volcanoes. God bless.
