"The sharp knife of a short life

I've had just enough time..."

- "If I Die Young" The Band Perry

I see Beauty in many things. And like the ghosts that only speak to you if you notice them, they tell me wondrous tales. With my camera and my thoughts, I captured these as faithfully as I can to share with you. And by doing so, they gave me the reasons. And though the thousand reasons may not all be sweet and some indeed bitter; they are still reasons to live. Come to think about it, that is Life, isn't it?

Saving The Rain Trees of Taiping

I've had just enough time to...   see the rain trees saved

Taken of the Taiping Lake Garden, the most beautiful park in Malaysia

The rain trees lined the serene shore
Dipping its branches into the forbidden lake
Rippling the surface stirred by wayward winds
Sending a gentle cascade of dropping leaves
On wet grasses and empty benches
Providing solace to aching hearts and aching feet
Slowing down time to a slow crawl
Witnessed by the distant hills and century trees
Through the veils of morning mists and driving rain
A scene that soothes the heart with a gift of memory
That may not last as long as the trees
Only just as long as we live…

And they want to set up kiosks in this sacred land
To sell snacks and souvenirs!

  1. I love Taiping Lake. I love the century old rain trees there that witnessed the history of the place. It is the most serene and beautiful park in Malaysia. When there, my soul converse with the trees and I meditate without meditating. And the municipal council there, who is supposed to serve the people and the town wanted to cut down some trees and marred the place by building some kiosks selling snacks and souvenirs!! They would destroyed something nature crafted for more than a century to replace it with something kitschy! It is an abomination! The people of the town forced the council to reconsider. It is a rare victory, maybe because election is round the corner. But I still bristle to think that they can even consider such an idea. This post is dedicated to all who signed the petition to save the Taiping Rain Trees.

Excellent work. Our city has levies for the removal of trees on residential property...which really means...tax revenue for the city. I wish the politicians cared more when they themselves cut down so many of our forests for highrises in the 70's and 80's.

Such a beautiful capture! This place looks gorgeous. If you live here you are very blessed. ;) I read your comment about zipper lips, haha! I too have had my share of "scares" in the past. I've had some physical issues my whole life that I've learned to deal with and from time to time I post these image. It's my way of giving the finger to my ailments and fears and the ultimate scare, "death". I'm not a sicko or anything, haha! Cheers. :D

  3. I don't see why every interesting place has to be an opportunity for business. I'm so glad they've changed their minds, though.

    1. An opportunity for some to make money I guess. They care not what they destroy in the process. Yes, it is a rare victory but lets hope they don't 'sneak' one on us. Thanks for the visit.

The tree symbolises new growth, stages of life and ageing, with its spring leaves and blossom, then the falling leaves.
We can all relate to trees.
Forget our worries and "talk to the trees ".
Beautiful image and poem ---let us pray -that this magical lake and treescape will be preserved .
Great work Thou - San .

the flower and leaves look alike,
It must be Heavenly going there, I know I would love to be there,

Wonderful dedication to those who took a stand against the politicians who are blind to the park's incredible beauty & only think how they can get a few more coins into the council's coffers. Unfortunately its likely true, thou, that the upcoming election is the reason for the turnaround. Politicians rarely listen to the people unless there's something in it for them. A very beautiful capture ...superb composition with the exotic flowers in the foreground & great dof.
Your excuse for why you don't get up early made me laugh ...magnetic force indeed *~* And the story of your first bike brought vivid recollection of my own first bike. It was a beautiful green bike but much too big for my 8 year old body. My dad had already put thick wooden blocks on the pedals when I found it downstairs on Christmas morning. He took me out in the street & ran holding the back of the seat to keep me upright while I pedalled. Then he let go & it felt like magic as I sailed down the street on a big two-wheeler bike for the first time. And then I fell off *~* But the lesson had been learned. I could now ride the bike without help. I loved that green bike. I rode it til I was 15 years old (without the blocks on the pedals, of course) It had French handlebars ... which meant nothing to me but which brought a lot of attention from the boys *~*
